General Policies

  • Please plan to arrive no more than 5 minutes early.  Please remove your shoes and place your belongings on the shelves provided.

  • Please do not bring any food or drink of any kind into the Kindermusik classroom.  Several children in my studio have severe food allergies.  Please leave sippy cups, bottles and snacks in the car to enjoy after class.  Also, please do not bring in any toys or pacifiers.

  • During class, the most important thing you can do for your child is to be a focused, active and involved role model.  Please save "grown-up" chat for before and after class.  This is a special time for you and your child to be together in a creative, enriching environment.  When you are an active, engaged participant in class activities your child will model your actions and focus more fully, too.

  • It is not uncommon for a child to attend several classes before feeling comfortable in class.  What your child is absorbing during class is often evidenced in the comfort of the home environment rather than through a certain level of participation in class.  The understanding, sensitivity and consistency of the parent/caregiver in class and at home  are the key to facilitating musical learning and growth.

  • If your child becomes upset or disruptive during the class period, please step out of the Kindermusik class until your child has calmed sufficiently to participate in the class.  If your child is crying loudly, please step into the room just behind the Kindermusik as a courtesy to the other class participants.

  • Your child will benefit enormously from the use of the fabulous and enriching Home Materials!  Consistent reinforcement and play at home during the week makes all the difference in a child's level of participation in class.

  • Remember, children come in all ages, stages, and personality types.  The Kindermusik classroom provides an understanding, accepting and supportive environment for all children and parents.  I am dedicated to the experience and development of each and every student in my program.

  • Consistent attendance is extremely important for young children.  Please respect this by attending class weekly.

  • Please make sure that your child completes the home activity prior to each class.  Children are excited to share their projects, please help them feel successful by having them project completed and ready to share the following class period.

  • Please make sure your child has all of the materials for their class each week.

  • Please have your child use the restroom before class.

  • Please escort your Imagine That and Young Child students into the classroom and leave with a quick hug or kiss. Parents and siblings join us for the last 10 minutes of each class period.

  • Parents or guardians attend the entire Our Time and Village classes.

  • Classes will begin and end on time.  If you are late, please come in quietly and join in the activity.

  • Please let me know if you will not be attending a class.  Please leave a phone message or inform me if you will be out of town.

Studio & Attendance Policies

  • There are no make-up lessons for student absences. All students have been assigned a class time, random switching of class times is not allowed.

  • Siblings may not attend Village and Our Time classes.  Please make other arrangements for them during class time.  Buddy Bin and Lollipop Lane provide hourly childcare for a reasonable rate.  Only the child who is registered may attend. New babies may attend as long as they do not distract from the attention given to the enrolled child and do no detract from the experience for the other parents and children. Babies need to be content enough to remain in a car seat or infant carrier.

  • Parents of Imagine That and Young Child students are required to participate in the last 10 minutes of each class period.  Siblings are welcome as long as they participate appropriately in the musical activities.

  • Kindermusik follows the traditional school schedule. Classes will not be held when schools are not in session.

  • We will make every attempt to hold classes on snow days. We will follow the Davis School District decision on closing unless I call to tell you otherwise.  Missed classes will be made up near the end of the semester.

  • Classes cancelled due to teacher illness will be made up at the end of the semester.
